Waveguide Bellows

General Atomics fabricates flexible waveguides from a single piece of aluminum. The flexible regions have deep internal and external corrugations. They are precisely machined to hold a vacuum. Each waveguide bellows has a medium bandwidth and can be designed for multiple-frequency operation. For high average power, flexible waveguides in CuCrZr (copper chromium zirconium) alloy are offered.

Special couplings to mating waveguides allow longitudinal motion while preventing transverse motion that would cause unwanted mode conversion.
