General Atomics Receives 2025 San Diego Life Changing Award

SAN DIEGO – 16 May 2025 – General Atomics was honored to be recognized with a San Diego Life Changing Award for the company’s tireless commitment to driving innovation and promoting growth of the scientific industry in the 70 years since its founding in San Diego.

The awards are presented by San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to a company, institute, or entity for creating or facilitating outstanding inventions, innovations or breakthroughs that have changed and improved the world and advanced inclusive growth. 

Linden Blue, co-owner and vice chairman of General Atomics, accepted the award on behalf of the company as part of a special 60th annual awards ceremony at Petco Park. Mr. Blue has served on the EDC’s board of directors for 25 years and has been an executive committee member for over a decade.

“EDC is a great organization. It characterizes and stimulates free enterprise and a strong economy for San Diego. General Atomics is proud and appreciative of being the recipient of this award,” said Mr. Blue.

In addition to underpinning the area’s energy, defense, and aerospace industries, General Atomics has partnered with UC San Diego, San Diego State, and other area universities to advance science and technology and train the next generation of scientists and engineers. It remains one of the county’s largest employers and provides key support for technology workforce development and STEM education across the San Diego area.

The EDC’s San Diego: Life. Changing. program highlights professionals and entrepreneurs who have upgraded their lives by working in San Diego. The campaign focuses on amplifying opportunities at San Diego life sciences and tech companies, highlighting the long-term career offerings, lifestyle options, and life-changing companies available in the region.
