MQ-9 Reaper Selected as Featured Aircraft

SAN DIEGO – 14 September 2018 – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a three-star sponsor for this year’s Air Force Marathon being held on Saturday, September 15, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In addition to the sponsorship, the GA-ASI-developed Predator® B/MQ-9 Reaper® Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) has been selected as the featured aircraft for the marathon.

As the featured aircraft, MQ-9 Reaper will be on the finisher's medals and runner shirts, as well as a patch that every runner receives. Additionally, there will also will be a USAF MQ-9 Reaper aircraft on static display.

Developed using company funding and designed after the original Predator deployments, MQ-9 Reaper incorporates advanced Electro-optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Lynx® Multi-mode Radar, electronic support measures, signals intelligence, and multiple weapon options. The aircraft is engineered to exceed manned aircraft reliability standards, is equipped with redundant avionics and flight control systems, and can be outfitted with a multi-mode maritime radar for long-range maritime surveillance.

Predator B/MQ-9 is currently operational with the USAF, NASA, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Royal Air Force (UK), Italian Air Force, French Air Force, and has been procured by the Spanish Air Force and Royal Netherlands Air Force.
