E-SMART®
The E-SMART® application was developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and General Atomics to address intelligent, continuous, real-time environmental monitoring needs in commercial and government applications.
Automated Parts System
GA has broad experience in developing and implementing repair systems for military aircraft and related support facilities, as well as providing logistics support services.
Blade Repair
For repair and rejuvenation of high-pressure turbine blades used in high-performance aircraft engines, GA is developing an automated repair cell and flight qualified repairs. It has also developed software systems and models that allow the DoD depots to better monitor repair processes and to collect and maintain management metrics.
Remote Robotic Manipulator System
GA has developed a robotic fuel tank desealing system for the Air Force, which eliminated a hazardous, time-consuming manual procedure.
Spare Parts Production and Reprocurement
GA has developed and installed a computer-based Spare Parts Production and Reprocurement Support (SPARES) system for the Air Force at Ogden Air Logistics Center.
Pollution Prevention Software
GA has also developed a pollution prevention software package, ProcureSmart, now implemented at Hill AFB and available to government agencies. The software package environmentally ranks products qualified to be purchased against a National Stock Number request.

Brake Antiskid Control Sysem (BACS) (PDF)
General Atomics has developed a brake control system technology that brings revolutionary benefits to the control of aircraft brakes. At the heart of our system is a Pulse Width Modulated antiskid control valve with associated control hardware and software.
Advanced Materials
GA has a 12-inch-wide R&D vacuum web coater that is used for development of new materials and processes. This machine can utilize up to 8 sputtering cathodes in-line to deposit a variety of different materials. This machine also is capable of depositing metal oxide films for optical applications by reactive sputtering.
Signature Control
GA is an industry leader in developing and applying highly specialized signature control technologies for a wide variety of applications. GA develops materials, structures, and technologies for control of radar, and various optical signatures.
Space Power Conversion
GA is an industry leader in developing and testing power conversion systems for numerous applications. For space applications, GA has extensive experience in designing and testing thermionic devices for converting heat to electricity for applications ranging from a few kilowatts to several hundred kilowatts. |
