Bluegrass Army Depot

The Bluegrass Army Depot stores both the chemical munitions and conventional explosive munitions.  As part of that mission, the destruction of excess energetics (explosives and propellants) is necessary.  Previous methods have used open-burn/open-detonation methods for this destruction.  The depot is adding new technologies that will be more environmentally compatible.  The use of neutralization and subsequent SCWO units for energetics destruction is planned at the Bluegrass Army Depot.  A 50 ton/day SCWO unit will be fabricated in 2008 for this facility.
