New Energy Products Website Released

The Energy Products division of General Atomics Electronic Systems, Inc. (GA-ESI) is pleased to announce that it has completely revamped and greatly improved its website and plans to discontinue the previous website (www.gaep.com) after a transition period.  The home page of the new website is www.GA-ESI.com/EP .

GA-ESI’s capacitor technology includes paper, film, and mixed dielectrics and both self healing metalized as well as discrete foil electrodes.  Most products are oil-filled for the highest performance, but dry designs are also available.  All types of polymer films, including polypropylene (PPL), polyethylene terephthalate polyester (PET), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polyetherimide (PEI), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyimide (PI), and many more have been wound by GA-ESI into custom-engineered capacitors.  Packaging styles include plastic cases, drawn metal cans, welded metal cans, cylindrical and epoxy encapsulations.

GA-ESI is a world leader in the development of high energy capacitors, and has supplied capacitors storing as much as 260,000 Joules (260 kJ) of energy in individual units.  Capacitors with energy densities as high as 3 J/cc are now commercially available.  Rated voltages of GA-ESI’s capacitors range from under one kilovolt to five megavolts.  A current listing of capacitors in stock can be found at www.GA-ESI.com/EP/capacitors/inventory-number.php .

In addition to capacitors, GA-ESI also supplies complimentary components such as high voltage and high current fuses and high voltage and high current resistors.  Capacitors can also be integrated with other components to provide pulse forming networks (PFNs) or to include internal energy dump resistors.  These products are engineered to order.

GA-ESI supplies a range of capacitor charging power supplies used for both high repetition rate pulse applications and for charging large capacitor banks.  These are compact switch-mode supplies which provide a constant current output for efficient capacitor charging. The standard rack-mounted CCS product line covers the range from 2 to 12 kJ/s average charge rates, and 2-50 kV maximum charge voltage.  Higher power and voltage levels are available upon request. Different versions are available for Input power from 220 VAC Single-Phase and 208, 400 and  480 VAC 3-Phase 50/60Hz, limited by charge rate.  When specified, the product can be made to conform to European norms.

GA-ESI capacitor, power supply, control, and pulse power engineers and Sales personnel work together with customers to develop custom pulse power systems and sub-systems with turnkey capability to deliver specified output pulses for industrial, research, and military applications. GA-ESI also manufactures on a build-to-print basis systems and subsystems for other companies, including such diverse and demanding products as radars and power inverter modules for military systems.
