General Atomics Awarded Contract for Hazardous Waste Destruction Systems in China

SAN DIEGO, CA, 17 APRIL 2018 - General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) announced today that it has been awarded a contract from Tianjin Saipeng Environmental Protection Technology Company, People’s Republic of China, for three industrial Supercritical Water Oxidation (iSCWO) systems. The iSCWO systems will be installed at the Binhai New Area facility in the Tianjin municipality to provide a reliable, environmentally-sound capability to destroy hazardous liquid waste generated from the region’s industrial operations.

“This contract represents the first of what we hope are many opportunities for GA-EMS to develop and manufacture technologies such as our iSCWO systems for installation in China,” stated Scott Forney, president of GA-EMS. “Binhai New Area is a growing technology innovation and industrial district. We are excited to have the Tianjin organization select our iSCWO systems to help them efficiently destroy liquid organic waste and safely return clean water back to the area’s industrial base for reuse.”

GA-EMS will build, test and ship three iSCWO systems for installation at the Binhai New Area facility operated by Tianjin Saipeng Environmental Protection Technology Company. The iSCWO process provides an environmentally sound method to destroy a broad range of hazardous and non-hazardous waste with a destruction removal efficiency of >99.99%. iSCWO’s unique waste processing technology destroys organic wastes to yield CO2, water, and salts, which can be safely released back into the environment or reused for other industrial purposes without any additional post-treatment processing required. iSCWO systems are cost-effective and highly efficient replacements for existing industrial waste treatment technologies that have high emission rates, require additional post treatment, and/or entail substantial installation, operation and maintenance costs.
