Fusion energy is the process that powers the sun and the stars. It is the reaction in which two atoms of
hydrogen combine together, or fuse, to form an atom of helium. Today, scientists from around the
world are conducting research to help create that same power here on Earth. Fusion energy will
provide a clean, safe, and abundant form of power that can be used to light our homes, schools, and neighborhood parks.

General Atomics is researching and developing two forms of fusion energy: magnetic confinement
fusion and inertial confinement fusion. General Atomics is the home of DIII-D, the largest magnetic
fusion facility, in the United States, and is a target provider for the national inertial confinement
fusion program.

General Atomics is a target fabrication contractor for the Department of Energy, U.S. Inertial
Confinement Fusion Program, supplying many thousands of targets and components each year. We

The main General Atomics campus is located on a 120-acre site in San Diego, California,
approximately 15 miles north of downtown's San Diego International Airport, mostly via Interstate 5.
It is also about 120 miles south of Los Angeles International Airport, mostly via Interstates 405 and 5.
