Vacuum Web Coater

The 36-inch-wide vacuum coater is referred to as the ISM, or interim scale-up machine. This roll-to-roll device incorporates a wire-fed aluminum evaporator, a monomer evaporator and electron-beam curing system, direct and reactive magnetron sputtering using multiple sources, and plasma treatment, in a dual-drum, fully reversible, 36-inch-wide web coater.

The web speed can be controlled from about 0.1 to 100 feet per minute. Since the web is reversible, metal, polymer, semiconductor, and metal oxide or nitride coatings can be applied in any sequence.

The ISM incorporates the most advanced in-line diagnostic equipment available for characterizing the physical, electrical, and optical characteristics of the film as it is being deposited. This provides unprecedented levels of control over the process. The ISM also incorporates advanced digital control with touch-screen operation for all processes.
