Japan System

General Atomics developed relationships with Japanese companies to introduce the SCWO technology to Japan for hard-to-destroy hazardous wastes.  The GA SCWO technology was transferred, and a commercial size unit was delivered to Japan to assist in evaluation of local waste streams.  The SCWO unit was built to satisfy the stringent Japanese high pressure gas law so that it could be used without restriction in Japan.  Evaluations of candidate wastes and development of reactor salts transport devices were completed.
